Queenstown Underwater Observatory - Queenstown

Underwater Observatory is great value at only $5 entry, or free with a ride on KJet's thrilling Jet boat ride.

The Underwater Observatory is located centrally at the Main Town Pier (just look out for the yellow KJet sign). Visitors have the opportunity to look into the depths and see the underwater inhabitants of Lake Wakatipu.

Slinky eels, massive trout and diving ducks all mingle a few metres from lakeshore. Observe Scaup Ducks (also known as Black Teal) dive several metres underwater, right in front of the viewing windows, on their eager quest for food.

Informative story boards tell the Maori mythological history of Lake Wakatipu and the 55 year history of KJet.

Other inhabitants of the lake include enormous Brown and Rainbow Trout and huge, slithering New Zealand Long Finned Eels, who gather at the observatory windows for food.

The informative and great value attraction is suited for all ages in all weather conditions.
