Real Journeys - Queenstown
Innovative, locally-owned excursion company, dedicated to showcasing everything Fiordland (and beyond!) has to offer. Take your pick from scenic cruises, day walks, horse trekking and much, much more.
Real Journeys does what it says on the tin - they open your eyes to the real New Zealand. To really appreciate what's all around you, you have to try a taste of several different exploration methods (!). Milford and Doubtful Sounds are best discovered on a slow, leisurely cruise - including overnight trips.
The Te Anau Glowworm Caves and Milford Track are ripe for picking over on foot, whereas historical places such as Queenstown can be presented directly to you from the decks of the TSS Earnslaw, a beautifully-maintained steamship, that will allow guests to disembark for a spot of cycling, hiking (even wine-tasting...sssh!), before flying you back to Milford Sound on one of the many flightseeing tours Real Journeys has available.
The ethos of Real Journeys is very much "share and share alike". Eager to make sure every visitor packs in as much as possible, they even organise excursions out to Stewart Island. Their "Stewart Island Experience" is a well-researched, environmentally-conscious trip that takes in all the wildlife and conservation centres in the area, as well as maintaining and running the Stewart Island Lodge - in case some visitors (OK, most visitors...), want to stay on and explore further.
Every penny that goes into Real Journeys, goes back out again, in the form of local conservation sponsorship, environmental projects and subsidised trips for children, so you can be sure that your money is very well spent.
